I’m not even gonna fake like I’m not excited about “The Expendables 3” so I was happy to get some official news on the next installment set for Aug. 15, 2014.

Here’s the official plot release from Lionsgate Publicity on the cast and the plot summary:

New on Blu-Ray/DVD for Nov. 20, 2012 – The Expendables 2

Really uneventful new release week with the only new film to coming out. It makes sense though as when I think of Thanksgiving, I think of shoot-outs, fist fights and explosions so it’s appropriate that “The Expendables 2” is coming out tomorrow.

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) in “THE EXPENDABLES 2.”

People complained that this was too much of the same, but really it’s 80s and 90s action stars fighting and shooting stuff up and the cameos by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Chuck Norris were great. My only gripe was not enough Jet Li, which I hope gets fixed for Expendables 3.

Silent Monk (Jet Li) and Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) in “THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM.”

If “Forbidden Kingdom” was one of the year’s worst films, it would still be worth seeing for the epic clash between Jet Li (“The Expendables“) and Jackie Chan.

Nothing in Director Rob Minkoff’s resume — “The Lion King,” “Stuart Little” and “The Haunted Mansion” — would give you confidence he could handle this clash of martial arts titans, but he understands that this fight will sell tickets and doesn’t skimp on making it the film’s showcase scene. Review: The Expendables 2

My inner caveman review of “The Expendables 2” — Stuff blow up good. Real good.

Assuming you want a bit more in your reviews though, here goes: “The Expendables 2” is a star-studded salute to summertime spectaculars that more than gives action fans all they could want in a big-budget blockbuster. Continue reading Review: The Expendables 2

2012 FF: This review isn’t so old that my thoughts on it have dramatically changed so this is still pretty much my thinking on one of my favorite, gloriously ridiculous action movies.

From left : Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Toll Road (Randy Couture), Hale Ceasar (Terry Crews) and Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) star “The Expendables.”

“The Expendables” is the kind of all-out, over the top action movie they just don’t make anymore, which is probably a good thing because the human brain can only take a movie that provides the equivalent to getting three consecutive adrenaline shots so many times. Yep kids. If you’ve seen more than four 1980s action movies there’s little chance you won’t be bouncing in your seat in amazement that a movie this awesome actually got made, let alone starring most of the biggest action stars from the past, present and future.
