Star Wars Force Awakens rewrites box office records with massive $120M opening day

Star Wars: Force Awakens is clearly looking like it’s going to force choke out pretty much every box office record there is to break this weekend. After setting a Thursday preview night record with $57 million, its Friday haul was an even more staggering number with $120.5 million.

This incredible haul has pushed conservative estimates of Force Awakens narrowly beating Jurassic World for best ever opening weekend out the window and the seventh film in the Star Wars saga is now being predicted to earn a staggering $250M weekend. Jurassic World set the record with $208.4 million by comparison. On its opening day, Jurassic World earned $81.9 million.

Film Title: Jurassic WorldThat impressive number was third to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which scored $91 million on its opening Friday. Harry Potter’s finale currently sits at No. 22 on the All-Time domestic list with $381 million. The Avengers: Age of Ultron had the second best Friday opening with $84 million en route to a $459 million total gross good for No. 8 on the all-time list.

Force Awakens might not just displace Jurassic World’s records domestically as it stands a great shot of toppling the international haul of $316.1 million and worldwide gross of $524.9 million. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this all weekend.

Alright, so what do you think?
