The only real question I have is just how in the heck am I going to be displaying this. Continue reading #NECA unveils its biggest #Aliens collectible yet – the Xenomorph Queen

Review: Aliens (1986)
“Aliens” is on the short list of sequels that not only matched the quality of its predecessor, but arguably surpassed it to become one of the greatest films of its genre. Continue reading Review: Aliens (1986)
NECA wants to make me a happy collector with “Aliens Series 2” tease of more marines
In my Top 10 list of all-time favorite movies, “Aliens” has a permanent spot. It’s my favorite James Cameron movie as it came the closest to pitting G.I. Joe against an invading alien force.
By ’86 there was G. I. Joe for me and then everything else. Even then I figured that would be the closest I’d come to seeing a live-action G.I. Joe movie. Who knew that I’d finally get to see one come 2013? [Reminder. That 2009 debacle did not count]
NECA is fast working to gain a similar place in my collecting heart as they reveal more details on its new “Aliens” line of figures. Continue reading NECA wants to make me a happy collector with “Aliens Series 2” tease of more marines
Film Flashback: “Terminator 3 – Rise of the Machines” (2003)
Following the amazing “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” wasn’t going to be easy for anyone. James Cameron departed the franchise that helped propel him to A-list director status and series regular Linda Hamilton also opted not to return leaving Arnold Schwarzenegger alone to keep the Terminator machine rolling with director Jonathan Mostow (“Surrogates”) for a different, yet very familiar direction for the franchise with “Terminator 3 – Rise of the Machines.” Continue reading Film Flashback: “Terminator 3 – Rise of the Machines” (2003)
#NECA is all set to make my 2013 with “Aliens” figures
“Aliens” is definitely one of my favorite movies. It felt like watching a live-action “G.I. Joe” movie with the Joes fighting against some crazy aliens. I loved it. Since I’m a big action figure collector, I’ve always wanted some figures of the Colonial Marines, but until now there haven’t been many goood options for them. Kenner tried in 1992, but even I wasn’t that desperate.
McFarlane Toys did make one Marine — my favorite, Hicks (one of my favorite actors @MichaelBiehn) — but without anyone else, there’s really no point and it had limited posing options.
For the most part, “Aliens” merchandise has been limited to the various Aliens, but NECA is delivering on some holy grail figures for me with their new take on the property complete with articulated Marines Hicks and Hudson (ditto for Bill Paxton). I’m going to greedily hold out hope for getting everyone from Vasquez, Drake, Apone, Gorman, Frost, Bishop, etc. and of course, Ripley. For now, though I am anxiously looking forward to adding Hicks and Hudson (in full “Game Over” mode) to my collection. Continue reading #NECA is all set to make my 2013 with “Aliens” figures
Hot Toys reveals “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” battle damaged T-800
Hot Toys just revealed their latest take on “The Terminator” with this 12″ version of the battle-damaged T-800 [the “good” Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger played in the follow-up to James Cameron’s 1984 hit.] I didn’t get scare too much watching movies when I was little, but for some reason, the skeletal Terminator at the end freaked me out for years so I had a hard time accepting T-800 as a hero. Ready for the circus? Here’s ticket info to travel with “Cirque du Soleil” this holiday
Despite being a regular at Vegas for about five straight years, I never managed to check Cirque du Soleil out. And it looks like I’ll get to catch it on the big screen before I head back to Vegas anytime soon.
With James Cameron’s involvement, I’m very interested to see how this turns out as if nothing else, the 3D should be amazing. Continue reading Ready for the circus? Here’s ticket info to travel with “Cirque du Soleil” this holiday
