My excitement level for “Transformers: Age of Extinction” is about a 3, but I have to admire Michael Bay for hammering this franchise out and being the rare director to stay behind the camera for the fourth consecutive installment of the series he started back in 2007.

Bay joined stars Mark Wahlberg, Li Bingbing, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor in Shanghai for the world premiere of the film. Check out the photo gallery after the jump. Continue reading The “Transformers: Age of Extinction” cast at the Shanghai premiere

New on Blu-Ray/DVD – June 3, 2014 – “Lone Survivor,” “#Robocop”

lone survivor blu rayLone Survivor – A gruesome take of an actual June 2005 mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg) and his team are left on their own to fend for their survival. The title kinda gives it away, but Director Peter Berg doesn’t give audiences much of a reason to invest in the story outside of a serious attention to detail. It’s a better tribute film than something you’d want to watch over and over again.

Universal Pictures (From left) Michael Murphy (Taylor Kitsch), Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg), Matt “Axe” Axelson (Ben Foster) and Danny Dietz (Emile Hirsch) in “Lone Survivor”, the incredible story of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level Taliban operative.

Well-meaning and overflowing with good intentions, “Lone Survivor” is an awkward tribute to the members of the Armed Services that’s more high quality reenactment than engaging look at soldiers in a war zone. Continue reading Review: Lone Survivor
