Thor Marvel Legends figure review BAF Allfather wave

Thor is another of my favorite Avengers. I love that he’s essentially the team’s big gun who bats cleanup when their most powerful foes have knocked everyone else out and Captain America has held him back in reserve.

Hasbro hasn’t made a lot of comic accurate Thor figures — he hasn’t even ranked a stand-alone figure line — but he was prominently featured as the A-lister in the first 2015 wave. Now let’s find out if this figure is worthy. Continue reading Thor Marvel Legends figure review BAF Allfather wave

Scarlet Witch Marvel Legends figure review BAF Allfather

One of the great atrocities for Marvel action figure collectors was the Scarlet Witch figure in Series 11 of the acclaimed Toy Biz Marvel Legends line. Wanda Maximoff’s figure was proof the line couldn’t always hit a home run.

Collectors have been begging Hasbro for years to release an improved version and for a long time those pleas went unanswered. With the first wave of its 2015 Marvel Legend series, Hasbro finally delivered with a figure that proved good things eventually do come to those who wait. Does Paul Rudd, Joseph Gordon-Levitt “Ant Man” casting rumors reinforce Marvel Studios’ small-scale approach to diversity?

Hank Pym Ant Man Marvel Comics AvengersWith “Ant-Man” scheduled to kick off Marvel’s Phase 3 in summer 2015, it’s time we started getting some important details beyond a quick preview video. Like say … the star of the film.

According to Variety, Marvel Studios have narrowed their choice to play Hank Pym/Ant-Man to Paul Rudd (“This is 40“) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Don Jon“). In case you’re curious, I’ve stifled my nerd rage enough to not be worked up over the fact that neither are blond.

Both are solid actors and if they are truly are Final 2, the audience can’t lose. Gordon-Levitt tried to settle the rumors somewhat in an interview with Huffington Post France

“There is always a lot of rumors around these projects and so far it is still only discussions,” he said. “I am always very transparent when it comes to my role and my career. I’m usually the first to speak and communicate with my fans if something happens. If you hear nothing from me, they are just rumors.”Ant Man

But it got me thinking based off a comment here last week. Does Hank Pym have to be a white guy? Let’s take a look … Continue reading Does Paul Rudd, Joseph Gordon-Levitt “Ant Man” casting rumors reinforce Marvel Studios’ small-scale approach to diversity?
