More than any other sequel in the series, ‘Terminator: Genisys’ is truly going to make franchise fans question if now isn’t a perfect jumping off point as it’s clear that everything worth saying and doing with the series has already been done much better and far more interestingly. Get to know the Suicide Squad – DC’s most dysfunctional team
DC has a slew of great teams from the Justice League of America, the Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes, The Doom Patrol, Outsiders and even some cool villain teams including the Secret Society of Super-Villains, the Injustice League and Flash’s Rogues, but no other team combines heroes and villains like the Suicide Squad.
David Ayer will be bringing the team to the big screen in the second 2016 film in DC/Warner’s massive roll-out of movies featuring the DC Universe. You’re no doubt familiar with the stars who will be headlining from Will Smith, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne, but for those unfamiliar with the comic and the characters, here’s a primer on the Squad itself and its roster. Full Suicide Squad revealed – Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Jared Leto join David Ayer film #SuicideSquad
The Squad has been fully assembled for DC/Warner’s “Suicide Squad” as the entire cast was announced today.
In a very odd and rare case all of the rumored casting speculation was accurate. Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Jared Leto will be playing The Joker; Will Smith will be playing Deadshot; Tom Hardy will play the Squad leader Rick Flagg; Jai Courtney (“Jack Ryan”) will be Boomerang and Cara Delevingne will star as Enchantress to join the previously announced Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. There was some talk that Smith would be playing Capt. Boomerang, but Deadshot makes far more sense.
The David Ayer film will be coming to theaters Aug. 5, 2016.
Jesse Eisenberg may also be reprising his role as Lex Luthor, but his deal hasn’t been finalized as of yet.
Review: Divergent
It doesn’t take long while watching “Divergent” to get the sense that the filmmakers desperately want this young adult book adaptation to be the next “Twilight,” “Harry Potter” or “Hunger Games” instead of aiming higher and simply trying to be the first “Divergent.” Continue reading Review: Divergent
New on Blu-Ray/DVD for June 4, 2013 – “Warm Bodies” heats up, “Die Hard 5” DOA
Warm Bodies – This zombie romantic comedy proved an unlikely hit as its unique spin on Romeo and Juliet cast as a thinking zombie (Nicholas Hoult) and a zombie killer (Teresa Palmer) scored with audiences and gave Hoult his first big box office hit. Box office roundup Feb. 17, 2013 – A good, but not great weekend to be #1 for latest “Die Hard”
1. A Good Day to Die Hard – $25 million [debut week; $33.2 million total] Call this the strength of a solid brand name. Sylvester Stallone’s “Bullet to the Head” only was able to muster $4.5 million its opening weekend while Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “The Last Stand” earned $6.2 million, marks Bruce Willis’ fifth turn in the “Die Hard” series surpassed with its $7.2 million haul on Friday despite far less favorable reviews. “Stand” scored 59% on rottentomatoes.com and “Head” managed 49% while “Die Hard” scored a pitiful 17% rating. The morale of the story? Schwarzenegger is already set to return to familiar franchises “The Terminator” and “Conan” while Stallone is starting work on “The Expendables 3.” As for “Die Hard 5?” This will struggle to match “Live Free or Die Hard’s” franchise best $134.5 million and have trouble reaching the $100 million threshold. A Good Day to Die Hard review
To say “A Good Day to Die Hard” is the worst of the series doesn’t give its unique level of awfulness justice. That’s largely because the franchise hasn’t had a stinker up to this point, but this is certainly the “Rocky V” of the beloved Bruce Willis franchise and it reeks.
