One of the gimmicks in “Cloud Atlas” is that the cast plays several roles throughout the film. Some are easily recognizable, but others will have you doing a double-take after you realize an actor’s playing a character you’d never typically associate with them such as the romantic comedy regular Hugh Grant playing a bloodthirsty warrior chief.
“Cloud Atlas” is one of the fall’s most-anticipated films. In addition to its A-level cast boasting Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, Keith David and Oscar winners Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent and Susan Sarandon; “Atlas” marks the directorial return of the Wachowski siblings, (“The Matrix”) who had removed themselves from the spotlight since their 2008 disappointment “Speed Racer.” For the record, I liked it, but not too many people felt the same way.
