“The Expendables 3” explodes on Blu-Ray with extended cut #TheExpendables

the expendables 3One of my fun guilty pleasures of the year, “The Expendables 3,” is set for release on home video Nov. 25 with an extended cut, but sadly for those craving a bit more violence, not “R” rated cut. Box-office roundup – Aug. 17, 2014 – Turtle power holds on for a second week

1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – $28.4 million [2nd week; $117 million in total] – The Turtles saw a significant drop from their box office win last week, but they were able to hold on to the top spot for another week narrowly holding off the runner-up yet again. “Turtles'” drop was a bit more than “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” which earned a B+ CinemaScore and earned $31 million its second weekend. “Turtles” received a “B” CinemaScore. It’s pretty safe to assume that “Turtles” won’t be able to hold off “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” but the lack of other family films may help it make the top spot an actual battle next weekend.

Three films in now, you should know exactly what you’re in for with “The Expendables 3.” That will inevitably be disappointing for those expecting some thoughtful commentary on action from a collection of actors who starred in the biggest action hits of the 1980s and 1990s.

For viewers a bit more realistic with their expectations, “The Expendables 3” is another crazy spectacle chock full of ridiculous action, bad puns and references to the stars’ glory days in a fitting finale to the 2014 summer blockbuster season. Take it seriously at your own risk, but it’s so much more fun to treat it like the old school action homage the series has always been. Continue reading Review: The Expendables 3

#GIVEAWAY: Win Machete Kills by naming your favorite #TheExpendables3 star

Expendables 3 - Wesley_SnipesI’m really looking forward to “The Expendables 3.” I wasn’t in the majority with “The Expendables 2” among critics, but I’ve got a soft spot for watching my favorite 80s action heroes teaming up on the big screen and with the addition of Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammer, Harrison Ford and Antonio Banderas, this could be a solid conclusion to the trilogy.

With so many stars and options, I figured we’d have a little fun and do another giveaway.

Following a successful title defense of her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship, Ronda Rousey, one of the new cast members of “The Expendables 3,” partied with her co-stars Dolph Lundgren, Kellan Lutz and Victor Ortiz.expendables-3-cast-kellan-lutz-ronda-rousey-dolph-lundgren-and-victor-ortiz

Her cast-mates were impressed were their co-stars real-life fighting prowess.

“She came, She saw, she conquered! One of the most disciplined athletes I’ve ever seen! 16 seconds… Beast mode for my girl Rousey!” – Kellan Lutz.
